Visa pathway for Indonesia founders

Indonesian passport holders qualify for the UAE investor / partner visa once a free-zone licence is issued. Visit visa on arrival up to 30 days for Indonesians. Residence visa requires an in-person UAE Emirates ID biometric (allow 7–14 working days after licence issuance).

Indonesia–UAE tax treaty + corporate tax

Indonesia–UAE Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) in force. Provides relief on cross-border dividends, interest, royalties and business profits. Indonesian tax residents (NPWP holders) face global-income tax — coordinate with an Indonesian Konsultan Pajak on Form 1770, foreign-asset declarations, and the 183-day residency rule.

Banking corridor: Indonesia → UAE

Mashreq NeoBiz and WIO Bank onboard Indonesian-passport founders with verified source-of-funds. Emirates NBD and ADCB serve clients with prior UAE residence visas. Bank Mandiri Dubai branch handles IDR–AED corridor flows. SWIFT transfers between Indonesian banks (BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI) and UAE banks settle within 2–4 business days.

Frequently asked questions

Can an Indonesian passport holder own a UAE company 100%?

Yes. Every UAE free zone permits 100% foreign ownership — no Emirati local sponsor required. The licence can be wholly held under your Indonesian passport.

Does IUAE-CEPA help my Indonesian business with UAE customs?

Yes. The Indonesia–UAE CEPA (effective September 2023) eliminates tariffs on 80%+ of Indonesian exports to the UAE. A UAE-resident company simplifies CEPA preferential-rate claims, VAT registration and AED invoicing for GCC + African customers.

Will my Indonesian salary or business income be taxed in the UAE?

No personal income tax in the UAE on salary or freelance income. UAE Corporate Tax (9%) applies only to qualifying business profit above AED 375,000. The Indonesia–UAE DTAA prevents the same income being taxed twice for Indonesian tax residents.

Can my Indonesian PT or PT PMA own the UAE company?

Yes. An Indonesian Perseroan Terbatas (PT) or PT PMA can hold 100% of a UAE free-zone entity. Provide apostilled SK Menkumham (Ministry of Law decree), Akta Pendirian (Deed of Establishment) and a notarised director's signature. Formenzo coordinates the apostille chain via the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
