Frequently asked questions
Can I set up a UAE company without ever visiting the UAE?
The licence side can be set up remotely. The residence-visa side requires the in-person medical fitness test and Emirates ID biometric enrolment, neither of which can be discharged outside the UAE. A founder who incorporates but never claims the residence visa can avoid the UAE trip; a founder who wants the residence visa cannot. The bank account side ranges from largely remote (some digital-first products) to in-person required (most traditional banks).
Does Formenzo offer a fully remote setup?
We support a remote-first workflow that compresses the in-person obligations into a single short UAE trip. We do not promise a fully remote setup because the medical and Emirates ID enrolment are federal biometric steps that no advisor can discharge on the founder's behalf. Honest expectation-setting is part of how we work.
How long is the in-person UAE trip likely to be?
A well-planned trip that covers the medical fitness test, the Emirates ID biometric enrolment, the residence-visa stamping and (where required) the bank in-person meeting can typically be compressed into a few working days. The exact duration depends on the authority and bank queues on the travel dates, and the live route check is the operative answer for any specific case.
Can I appoint a UAE-based attorney instead of flying in for documents?
Yes, through a properly scoped and attested Power of Attorney. The PoA covers the licence-side wet-signature workflow and routine document collection. It does not cover the federal biometric steps and it does not, in general, cover the bank's in-person KYC meeting. A scoped PoA is worth more than a blanket one.
Which verified zone is best for remote founders?
IFZA and Fujairah Creative City are two of the most widely flexible remote-setup routes in the workbook-priced set, in the sense that their licence-side workflows are well-documented for founders who plan to handle the paperwork from outside the UAE. The right answer for any specific case still depends on activity, visa need and budget, and the live route check is the operative answer.
Can the corporate bank account be opened before I fly in?
Some digital-first business-banking products in the UAE allow document submission and the bulk of the onboarding workflow to happen before the founder flies in. Most traditional branch-led banks reserve the right to require an in-person meeting with the authorised signatory before the account is opened. The realistic plan is to schedule the bank in-person step inside the same UAE trip as the medical and Emirates ID enrolment.
Will the bank-readiness signal be lower because I am remote?
Not because of remoteness on its own. The bank-readiness signal is calculated from the route, activity, nationality and document quality. A remote founder with a clean source-of-funds story, a well-fitting activity scope and a properly scoped PoA can have a high signal. A remote founder with a thin document pack will have a low one. Remoteness is not a drag factor in itself.
What if my plans change and I do want to relocate to the UAE later?
The remote-first setup is a foundation rather than a ceiling. A founder who incorporates remotely, completes the residence-visa workflow on a short trip, and then decides to relocate fully later does not have to start the company-formation process again — the licence and visa carry forward. The same is true for a founder who initially chooses one zone and later wants to add a different licence; the existing licence remains valid through its renewal cycle.
